Have you ever purchased a preset and when applying it ... it makes your work look worse than the raw version. Yeah, I've been there too.
A lot of presets out there are built around the specific photographers raws, and it rarely will look as good on your photographs unless you're using the same gear + settings. I am a true believer that presets should be a base for your edits, and you can build on it as you see fit - but you shouldn't have to take a ton off the preset to make it work for you.

After downloading the presets, pull up Lightroom and head to the develop tab. From there select the “+” within the preset drop-down, which will bring up a window to select your purchased preset. Select the preset and import, you may have to restart Lightroom, and then your preset will be good to go!
